Ten kilograms is a bunch, certainly much too much for one person, but might
make sense for a group. I wonder how much it costs and if they would sell it.
(Igene's astaxanthin is derived from the yeast. Cyanotech's product <http:
//www.cyanotech.com/natu-specs.html> is derived from the algae; Cyanotech
has no info on how they package their product on their site, unfortunately.)
I guess another option might be to culture the microalgae Haematococcus
pluvialis yourself. Carolina biological might sell it. Anyone know if this
is a marine algae? That would make it a little harder, since daphnia
couldn't be used, though I suppose baby/adult brine shrimp could be added to
a portion of your culture before feeding to the fish.
