If you are prepared to shade the pool in summer I see no reason why you
couldn't supply a goodly portion of the North American market for Empire
Gudgeons. They will not need to be removed but the plants ( if they are in
trays or pots) can be. Some other cover e.g. large and numerous nylon mops
or crumpled shade cloth could be added.
