Never did I say this is the only way to raise fish. Never did I say I use 100%
ro water. How in the world do you know how I raise my fish? THIS is what works
for me. (period) I seem to be raising more fish than most people in THIS country
so did you ever think maybe just maybe ole' Rooster knows a thing or two that
works well?? The last fish I got from you alive was missing an eye! Have I ever
said YOUR way is wrong? I believe IF IT WORKS FOR YOU DONT CHANGE IT. I am
telling everyone what works for me seeing how I do raise a considerable amount
of fish. That is the idea behind this list, exchange of information. Nobody said
you were wrong Gary...its ok...we understand. If shell grit works well for you,
FINE. It does not work well for me or others from what I have seen. If someone
asks the question I am going to tell them what I believe to be the best way to
raise fish based upon my observations. I would also want to hear what other
people do as maybe they have a better way or a certain way of doing things with
a certain stubborn species/population. This is how we better ourselves in
regards to being a professional hobbiest and make it easier for the people just
now experiencing the joys of keeping and breeding rainbowfish and other OZ
natives. If I wanted to know the reason these things worked I would become a
doctor like Peter or Bruce or Walter or Scott or whomever I missed on this list.
(what else can I think of to rattle his chain...oh) At certain levels of
hardness or acidity the blocks will dissolve at a different rate thus changing
each persons water individually. Size of the block makes no difference. small
pieces dissolve
(thats De solve for you) faster, large ones slower. Two blocks dissolve slower
than one. SSSOOOO oh wait one more thing Magnesium hardness is different than
calcium hardness. If your water is high in Magnesium but low in calcium, using
one of those tetra test kits will not tell you what component is making up the
hardness THUS you may be lacking in calcium even though your head is hard. :-).
THE ADDITION OF THE BLOCKS IS FOR THE CALCIUM. I have raised Rainbows in water
that was 550 ppm and even water that was 2100 TDS aside from having serious male
to female ratio swings I was still successful in raising the fry in 90% of the
cases. The reason I use softer water is that people who buy fish from me do not
have the same hardness thus I am making it easier for the fish to go from my
conditions to theirs. BBBUUUTTT ANYWAY.. Back to the issues...I am not going to
carry this further despite the entertainment it provides. Send your reply and
get it over with I am giving you the last word in this one!

As far as the cabinet goes you never use nails and you hang it parrell to the
counter so when you put the tile up its straight. So I guess you dont need a
level either.

Couldnt resist :-)
