funny,
I was just looking into this for rotifer culture. Seeing how BS eggs are
getting expensive rotifers seemed like a good alternate food for fry.
Simmilarly they could be enriched by feeding them like artemia (algamac
2000, rotirich, etc). Only prob is that I can't seem to keep a high enough
volume of greenwater production. I have decided to enrich the greenwater
cultures with a liquid fertilzer (miracle grow) and it seems to have
improved production. In the right conditions the rotifers (salt or
freshwater) can double in population every 24 hours (yesterday it was bout
4 per ml I hope it is now about 8, then 16 tomorrow, etc.). Apparently,
rotifers will grow in eutrophic conditions and won't be affected by ammonia
nitrate levels that might otehrwise impair fish or crustaceans.
Thus, these guys (the saltwater rotifers) seemed perfect for P.
cyanodorsalis fry. I will be testing this out soon, as I wll have both
soon spilling out of my ears...
