Smelt are buggers to transport, Chen, as you have noticed. They are
similiar in this respect to Rhadinocentrus ornatus... I have heard that a
little salt helps with Rhads, and there was someone else saying something
about traces of Mercurachrome, was it? Anyhow, whatever was added to the
water in the transport bag helped. FWIW I have brought Smelt home alive, it
was half-a-dozen odd in a twenty litre bucket. But whatever it is that
works for Rhads may do the trick for Smelt... someone else may wish to
expand on this.
