Craig,
there is some unpublished data, such as Bishop, Allen and Pollard
(which is due to be published any day, about 20 years after the data
were taken). E.g. 206 M. nigrans from Magela and Nourlangie Creeks ate
50% aquatic insects, 17% algae and 16% terrestrial insects. 1,109 M.
splendida from the same areas ate 29% algae, 25% aquatic insects, 10%
terrestrial insects and 7% microcrustacea. They both like ants.
There's much more detailed information in this report. If you weren't
24 hours away you could stop by and photocopy it.

If anyone has data on the stomach contents of wild rainbows, I, for one,
would be a rapt audience. The wild ones are about 24 hours by fast
plane from where I live...
