I've had a fair bit of experience with the Madagascar fish (all of them in general), and just some inside information. According to those doing the scale and bone counts, the Madagascar rainbow in the hobby today may actually by Bedotia madagascar
ensis not B. geayi.
Evidently, way back when, there was an error made when cataloging these fish (in whichever institution the type specimen floats), and the labels may have been switched. Hopefully M. Stiassny, P. Reinthal and P. Loiselle will hash this out and make
it public this year.
