Yo,
I use oatmeal, I use tank water to wet it just to the point that
is looks like the consistency of cooked oatmeal (for those who like
their oatmeal dryer and not creamy). I like to err on the side of making it
to dry than too wet, as the culture grows the worms excrete a lot of
moisture which seems to crash the culture faster if it is too wet.
The worms crawl up on the side of the tupperware container and I
jsut wipe them away with a little sponge and dunk it in the tank.
Temp is the most important thing to keep these cultures going, too hot
or too cold they don't last. Try to keep them in the 70-78 Degrees,
indirect light.
IF you use oatmeal and you are getting mold/fungus then chances are
your culture is not wet in that spot, or the entire culture is not wet
enough, try to get all the oatmeal evenly wet.
