Thanks for all the responses re my shocking problem. I gather from the replies
that while there is some contradiction amongst the respondents, I'm probably not
in any mortal danger!

I'm sure that this was not simply a static electricity discharge as the
phenomenon continues. I'll just locate the problem unit and disgard it- probably
at some auction in a grab bag!! Just Kidding! There is a power head at work on
this series of tanks so maybe that's the culprit.
