Right now I run 6 5.5 gallon tanks with a Whisper 700 (those tanks are 10"
deep). Whisper pumps seem to be decent, the Hagen line of pumps also seem to
be decent, but I've not owned mine for a really long time so I don't know how
long they last. The Hagen are a lot cheaper, and are just as quiet as any good
air pump. As far as sponge filters go, probably the nicest ones out ther are
the Hydro-Sponge filtes by Aquarium Technology, Inc. However, they tend to be
rather expensive for a sponge filter. I use, for the most part, Jungle Dirt
Magnet filters. They're cheap, and Jungle offers them in bulk. Ask your local
pet store if they can get them that way, usually the come in lots of 12. You'd
probably end up paying around $5 for them. I think it's the 'Senior' size that
comes that way, its the triangular one.

Later...

If you didn't see it, you missed it.
