I've tried to breed my G incisus 4 times with no luck. I started off by =
putting 2 females and one male together. The male killed one of the =
females. I've tried to mate the remaining female with each of the other =
males separately with no luck. The males are slightly larger than the =
females but not enough of a differential that should make a difference.
In the past I've successfully bred goldiei, fluviatilis, inornata, =
praecox, boesemani, herbertaxelrodi, and exquisita by putting either a =
single pair or 2 females to one male in a 20gal with a sponge filter and =
light aeration. I keep about 2 inches of natural river gravel and =
usually fake plants and/or a moss green spawning mop or 2. Most of the =
eggs I normally see are clinging to the fake plants rather than the mop =
(unless I just don't see them in the mop). I remove the breeders from =
the tank 3 to 7 days later and within a few days I have fry -- except =
with the incisus.
Suggestions? I'm leaning toward the males I have as being just too =
aggressive. Is water composition critical for this species?
Thanks for any help.
Bill

Hi William,
What do you consider "hard to find"? I have two of the blue eyes, =
cyanodorsalis and signifer.............
I'm in Louisiana.
I haven't dealt with the two wholesalers you mentioned.
E-mail me if I can help.

I live in the US (Texas) and have been able to purchase fish through =
2 wholesalers. I have bought from Aquaticus from New Jersey and Sante =
Fe Tropical fish from New Mexico. Does anyone have any knowledge about =
these wholesalers? The fish I've received seem to be of high quality. =
Aquaticus claims some of their fish to be F1 or F2.
Does anyone know of other sources for hard to find rainbows in the =
US?
