email has been a little crazy so this is a bit late but a good point
mentioning allen & cross. For those of you that are fortunate to have a
copy of Allen & Cross (out of print) pg 98 has a picture of an immature G.
wanamensis. When they get to full adulthood that anal fin touches the
caudal peduncle or more. That photo also brings up another important point
when you refer to "red" in a wanamensis. You will note that there is a
light salmon red background in the breast of the fish. Some people have
worried that this is from a cross when they've seen it in a good wanam. You
can also see just a hint of the blue in the caudal peduncle which is way
cool in addition to that wonderful green. Note also that there is just the
"slightest" bit of red at the tips of the anal fin, but otherwise the fins
are quite dark. In the crosses the dorsal and anal fins can be quite red
(but very dark red).
