It is fairly cheap because it is used in small quantities. Hate doing
micro cultures anyway. However it is this same purified algae product that
seems to be causing some problem (i.e. bloating, kidney failure) if used to
often or in to high quantities. It is also fairly stable if kept cool.
Looking at cyanotech's operation it seems that the algae is reared
in marine conditions (not sure on this) so it may be possible to prevent
other micro algae to out compete the Haematococcus. I was looking at a
similar method to raise the other marine micro alage in highly saline
conditions to prevent rotifer and other ciliates from taking over the
culture and crashing the algae....
