If it hasn't been done already...

A well-conditioned male bristlenose plec will have soft "bristle-like"
growths on his face and head. These growths will vary in number, location
and size depending upon the species you have. Females either do not have
the growths, or have much smaller ones, again depending upon the species.
They can be spawned in pairs or harems, and prefer caves to lay their eggs
in. The male guards the eggs and wrigglers, rather than the female.
