Hi Jim! Just to clarify things, yet another thing we'll have to clarify
in the newinfo FAQ is that this Mailing List is not under the direct
control or has anything to do with any organisation, ANGFA or otherwise.
ANGFA members are more than welcome to join, as are members of IRG, RSG,
and any other organisation, or none. This list is owned, in the biblical
sense, by two people, Alan Ford, who happens to be a committee person of
ANGFA(ACT) and a member of ANGFA(National), and my fine self, who happens
to be a member of both organisations and concurrently President of the
Canberra and District Aquarium Society, but that has no bearing on the
matter at all.
Alan and I recently copped abuse from a guy who was cranky with us
because we wouldn't give him special dispensation to flame us and the
list members at will - he said that we should have known that he was
an ANGFA member and treated him with respect accordingly: we, of course
politely but firmly told him to pull his head in. We told him in closing
that he was as welcome as anyone else to stay on the list.
All are welcome here. All. Regardless of club affiliation, and all the
other standard denominators (race, religion etc.) as long as they respect
the list for what it is, a fun way to propagate information about the
fishes of Sahul.
And for what it's worth, I feel that there is a lot more to ANGFA
membership than what happens on this list.
