Geez, all this talk about how expensive it is going to fishy conventions - who
here is saving their pennies for ANGFA in Darwin 2007? :)

I get a ticket, EVERY YEAR for the last ~ 10 years to fly from St. Louis to Hartford CT. $250-$320, look for the sales. Two night stay $80, I split a room with my drinking buddy Mike Hellweg (Finny on Aquabid). Registration $40-50. Banquet $30. Beer $20. I bring the max amount of items to sell at the auction 15 or 16 and usually end up with $100-$150 check or more to help even out anything I might buy in the auction. Presell some items or sell a few out of the room and you almost have the trip paid for. Unless you're going to MACNA, where they charge way too much for registration you're always going to come in under $600.

I've attended livebearer, plant, killifish, rainbowfish, betta and even those silly cichlid :-) conventions and I can say that they were all worthwhile and a lot of fun. For those of you that will be at the ACA in Chicago next year come look me up. I bartered my way into shooting the winners for the show for the Saturday evening awards. I'm betting I'll have some pretty good specimens as the midwest and Cleveland have some pretty good cichlid keepers.
