Lake Mackenzie on Fraser Island is the classic place for a monoculture of
Mogurndas - fine sandy substrate only and the only cover is provided by a
few reeds here and there. The competition for spawning sites on little bits
of drift wood and larger leaves that have blown in is quite fierce at times.

I have collected Mogurndas regularly in sandy areas elsewhere especially up
north but usually there are areas of cover within reasonable swimming
distance e.g. 20 feet
