I have been an Aquarist for the past 27 years, and during this time have maintained both marine and freshwater aquaria. I began my entry into this fascinating hobby keeping marine fish. Progressing from a low to moderate success at marine fishkeeping, I
eventually drifted into freshwater and today specialise in fishes from Australia & New Guinea.
I live in Sunny Queensland, Australia and have held administrative positions with the Qld Cichlid Group, ANGFA Qld, and the Qld Federation of Aquarium Societies. I am a founding member of the Australia New Guinea Fishes Association and currently editor o
f the ANGFA Bulletin.
I maintain 31 aquariums that contain 40 different species. Among them a number of Rare or Threatened species including M.eachamensis, which I have maintained since 1982. Some of my strain were part of the genetic study undertaken on this species.
For an update of the current position on M.eachamensis, I refer list members to a report by Craig Moritz, Danqing Zhu & Sandie Degnan - "Evolutionary Distinctiveness and Conservation Status of the Lake Eacham Rainbowfish, Melanotaenia eachamensis" - a fin
al report to the Wet Tropics Management Agency & the Qld. Department of Environment & Heritage.
